Casimir T. "Butch" Krawiec
"Mr. Fantastic" Casimir T. "Butch" Krawiec, 77, of Erie, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, after an extensive nine month illness. He was born in Erie on June 15, 1932, son of the late John and Mary Paluch Krawiec. Butch Was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from GE as the leader of the company's graphic arts area. He was a well known area artist, studying under local educator-painter Joseph Plavcan. His work was exhibited locally and specifically at the Erie Art Museum's Frame Shop Gallery. He loved painting and was quoted as saying "Painting makes my mind work-it feels great." Butch loved going to Church. He would go every day. His faith in God was very strong. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by brothers, John Krawiec and Al Krawiec; sister-in-law, Dorothy Krawiec; and brother-in-law, Richard Veit. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Nettie Alessi Krawiec, whom he married on June 4, 1955; three children; and seven grandchildren, he spent his last 10 months with one of his granchildren, Laura Robinson, at his side. He is also survived by sisters, Margie Veit and Ann Krawiec; brother, Lawrence Krawiec; sister-in-laws, Agnes Krawiec, Shirley LaRiccia, and Terry Krawiec; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2101 Ash St., on Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and may attend a service there Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation.
