CARROLL
Mass of the Christian burial for Louis T. Anstoeter of Carroll will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll.
Mr. Anstoeter, 86, died Wednesday, June 25, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
The Rev. Timothy Schott will preside at the Mass. Lector will be Sister Joann Gehling. Gift bearers will be Tessie Anstoeter and Luke Anstoeter. Eucharistic ministers will be Sister Joann Gehling and Shirley Molitor.
Casket bearers will be Luke Anstoeter, Tony Anstoeter, Brian Gertz, Allan Dentlinger, Glenn Dentlinger and Gary Williams.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery at Carroll.
Visitation started at 3:30 and a rosary was prayed at 4 this afternoon at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. A Christian wake service will be held at 7 tonight at the funeral home.
A son of Henry and Anna (Testroet) Anstoeter, he was born May 9, 1922, at Halbur and attended St. Augustine School there.
He and Rita Gehling were married Feb. 22, 1949, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll, with the Rev. Lambert Schenkelberg officiating.
Mr. Anstoeter farmed south of Halbur most of his life. The Anstoeters moved to Carroll in 1984. Mr. Anstoeter worked part-time picking up vehicles for Walsh Motors of Carroll, driving more than half a million miles over 12 years.
He was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and enjoyed walking around Swan Lake and attending the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.
Survivors include his wife, Rita, of Carroll; a daughter, Karen Gertz, of Omaha, Neb.; a son, Michael Anstoeter, of Yankton, S.D.; four grandchildren: Brian Gertz, Tony Anstoeter, Luke Anstoeter and Tessie Anstoeter, and their mother, Susan Anstoeter; and a sister, Esther Williams, of Manning.
Mr. Anstoeter was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Catherine Dentlinger, and her husband, Alphonse; a brother in law, Leo Williams; his parents-in-law, Herman and Genevieve Gehling; and an infant sister, Rita Anstoeter.
