Per St. Stanislaus Church records, Joseph married Helen Cottell in a civil marraige May 9, 1953. This marriage was annulled November 25, 1959.
He was a graduate of St. Patrick's Grade School and East High School, he was a well known swimmer at the YMCA. He enjoyed ice skating, snow skiing, and fishing. Before moving to California 34 years ago, he was an electrician at the iron ore docks and had been a member of the Zukor Club.
Also survived by a stepson, Edwin Best Jr. of Santa Paula.
